What are the services offered at my College Registrar?

Though services at each college many vary slightly, if you’re ever in need of academic or financial advising, your first stop should be to your college Registrar Office. The services you’ll find there are likely to include:

Academic Advising and Referral

  • Degree requirements/planning
  • Advice on course + program selection and enrolment
  • Advice and tips for managing course workloads
  • Academic rules and regulations
  • Academic skills
  • Learning strategies
  • Admissions to the College
  • Degree checking for students preparing to graduate
  • Enrolment in “extra” courses
  • Course overload requests
  • Re-instatement in courses
  • Advising students on probation or suspension
  • Advising students charged with academic offences
  • Letter of Permission and transfer credit counselling
  • Liaising with professors (letters on your behalf if you are sick, having personal problems, etc.)
  • Registration verification letters
  • Late withdrawal (LWD) requests
  • Petitions to the Faculty of Arts & Science (e.g., missed exams, late term work, etc.)

Financial Advising

  • Advice on student budgeting
  • Information on available scholarships, loans and bursaries
  • Schedule 2 (a.k.a., continuation of interest-free status) forms for OSAP
    •  processing RESP forms
  • College scholarships, bursaries and awards

Troubleshooting

  • File re-activation after an absence
  • Trouble shooting/unusual situations
    • Referrals to other U of T services
    • Official name or gender change requests (on student record)
    • re-setting PIN on ROSI
