The credit/no credit (CR/NCR) option is available to degree students currently registered in the Faculty of Arts & Science. It was created to encourage students to expand their possible course choices to areas where they think they have interest, but may not be confident about how well they will do.
With the CR/NCR option, course results don’t impact your GPA. They will count towards Distribution/Breadth Requirements and degree credits, but cannot be used to satisfy Program requirements. If you find that you’re doing better in your course than expected, you may still choose to remove the CR/NCR option providing you do so by the last day of classes in that term.
If you’re not doing as well as you had hoped in a course, but will still pass the course, you can get credit for the course by selecting the “No Credit” option in ACORN (see the relevant academic dates for deadlines), which means your grade in the course won’t affect your overall GPA.
Find important information about CR/NCR including which courses are not eligible for CR/NCR on the Academic Calendar.
When can I add or remove a CR/NCR option?
Eligible students may add a CR/NCR option, directly in ACORN, beginning on the first day of classes of the relevant session.
The deadline to add or remove a CR/NCR option is the last day of classes. See the relevant academic dates page for exact dates. If you miss this deadline and have concerns about your progress in courses, you should seek advice at your College Registrar’s office without delay.
How do I add or remove a CR/NCR option?
Students may add or remove a CR/NCR option directly on ACORN. You will also be able to view your past and present CR/NCR selections on ACORN.
