Week of July 27: Learning & Note-Taking

This webinar is designed to help you transition into university-level learning with confidence. We’ll focus on how learning and note-taking strategies evolve in university, share practical tips to help you feel prepared and introduce the Arrive Ready Learning Modules as a resource to support your success. This session is your chance to reflect on and ask questions related to the Note-Taking in University Arrive Ready Learning Module. Peer mentors will be available to answer your questions, and you’ll have the opportunity to connect with fellow incoming first-year students.

Week of August 3: Reading & Writing in Your Discipline

The Reading & Writing webinar is designed to strengthen essential academic skills. Get tips and strategies used by Arrive Ready interns to manage heavy reading loads and meet writing expectations. This is your chance to reflect on and ask questions related to the Effective Reading Strategies and Critical Writing in University Arrive Ready Learning Module. Start building your confidence with practical tools you can use right away.

August 6: Getting Ready to Study Math

The Getting Ready to Study Math webinar is your opportunity to learn what to expect from university-level mathematics. Staff from the Mathematics Department will share insights into first-year math courses, including course expectations, common challenges, course selection for your program and how to prepare for success. You will also hear from peer mentors about their experiences taking math in their first year and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Week of August 10: Managing Your Time & Energy

This webinar will help you build practical strategies for managing your time, energy and responsibilities as you transition to university. University learning requires greater independence, and students are responsible for managing their own time, keeping track of deadlines and creating a learning plan that works for them. Learn how to create a weekly plan, prioritize tasks based on your energy levels, use breaks effectively and access Learning Strategist resources. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with fellow incoming students.

Welcome to Arrive Ready: Attend the official kick-off webinar for Arrive Ready 2026, where we welcome the incoming class to the Faculty of Arts & Science at U of T! Connect with other incoming students and meet your Arrive Ready mentor team, who are here to support you as you prepare for first year. You can hear all of their insider tips and the lessons they learned along the way. They’ll also walk you through all the helpful, free resources available to you through the Arrive Ready program. 

Get Ready for U of T: Wondering what you need to prepare for your arrival at U of T in September? Learn about key dates and deadlines, where to find them and the resources available to keep you on track this summer. Our team of upper-year mentors will also share the tips they found most helpful and what they wish they knew before starting first year.

Finances & On-Campus Work: Learn about the various ways that you can help to finance your studies, including financial aid, U of T Scholarships & Awards and opportunities for on-campus employment. Hear from the Arrive Ready Mentor team about their experiences and strategies for finding work on campus. This session will include staff from the Faculty of Arts & Science undergraduate awards team. 

First-Year Opportunities: As a first-year Arts & Science student, you get exclusive access to First-Year Learning Communities (FLCs), First-Year Foundations Seminars and First-Year Ones Programs. These unique experiences offer an opportunity to connect with professors and other students in engaging, small group discussions. This week, mentors will share their experiences participating in these programs to help you decide which options may best suit your goals during first year. This session will include staff from the First-Year Learning Communities program.

Course Enrolment Tips: Learn about the resources you will use during course enrolment, including ACORN, Timetable Builder and the Academic Calendar. Gain valuable insights from Student Services Advisors from the Faculty of Arts & Science about choosing courses and preparing for course enrolment. You will also be able to ask the Arrive Ready mentor team questions about their experiences preparing for course enrolment. 

Course Planning with an Academic Advisor: In this session, academic advisors will share their years of wisdom advising first-year students on making important decisions around course selection and academic planning. The Arrive Ready mentor team will also be available to answer questions and share their experiences navigating the process.

Last-Minute Course Enrolment Questions: First-year course enrolment is July 16. Join us to review how to enrol in courses and for a chance to ask any last-minute questions you may have related to preparing for course enrolment. The session will include Faculty of Arts & Science Student Services Advisors.
