Gain valuable insights on how to make the most of your first year with clubs, study groups, research opportunities, experiential learning and on-campus jobs – all key ways to build your academic and work experience, make friends and explore your interests on campus.

Some webinars will also be co-hosted by faculty and staff. These sessions are open to all incoming first-year students in the Faculty of Arts & Science. You are welcome to drop in at any time and stay for as long as you would like during the session.

You can hear all of their insider tips and the lessons they learned along the way. They’ll also walk you through all the helpful, free resources available to you through the Arrive Ready program.

Wondering what you need to prepare for your arrival at U of T in September? Learn about key dates and deadlines, where to find them and the resources available to keep you on track this summer. Our team of upper-year mentors will also share the tips they found most helpful and what they wish they knew before starting first year.

First-Year Opportunities
As a first-year Arts & Science student, you get exclusive access to First-Year Learning Communities (FLCs), First-Year Foundations Seminars and First-Year Ones Programs. These unique experiences offer an opportunity to connect with professors and other students in engaging, small group discussions. This week, mentors will share their experiences participating in these programs to help you decide which options may best suit your goals during first year. This session will include staff from the First-Year Learning Communities program.
Course Enrolment Tips
Learn about the resources you will use during course enrolment, including ACORN, Timetable Builder and the Academic Calendar. Gain valuable insights from Student Services Advisors from the Faculty of Arts & Science about choosing courses and preparing for course enrolment. You will also be able to ask the Arrive Ready mentor team questions about their experiences preparing for course enrolment.
Course Planning with an Academic Advisor
In this session, academic advisors will share their years of wisdom advising first-year students on making important decisions around course selection and academic planning. The Arrive Ready mentor team will also be available to answer questions and share their experiences navigating the process.
Last-Minute Course Enrolment Questions
First-year course enrolment is July 16. Join us to review how to enrol in courses and for a chance to ask any last-minute questions you may have related to preparing for course enrolment. The session will include Faculty of Arts & Science Student Services Advisors.

This interactive webinar is your chance to learn from faculty about the skills, strategies and expectations for first-year success in your stream. Ask questions and get tips from our upper-year Arrive Ready mentor team as well!
Learning & Note-Taking
This webinar is designed to help you transition into university-level learning with confidence. This is your chance to reflect on and ask questions related to the Note-Taking in University Arrive Ready learning module. We’ll focus on how learning and note-taking strategies evolve in university, share practical tips to help you feel prepared and introduce the Arrive Ready learning modules as a resource to support your success. Peer mentors will be available to answer your questions, and you’ll have the opportunity to connect with fellow incoming first-year students.
Reading & Writing in Your Discipline
The Reading and Writing webinar is designed to strengthen essential academic skills! This is your chance to reflect on and ask questions related to the Effective Reading Strategies and Critical Writing in University Arrive Ready learning module. This session shares proven tips and strategies used by Arrive Ready mentors to manage heavy reading loads and meet writing expectations. Start building your confidence with practical tools you can use right away.
Exploring Math & Computer Fundamentals in Computer Science
Join Arrive Ready mentors Aryan, Ibraheem and Kirstan as they share insights on learning and applying math at university. They will answer your questions and reflect on their own experiences taking the MAT137: Calculus with Proofs and CSC110Y1: Foundations of Computer Science courses. They’ll also offer insider tips on how to navigate the Math and Computer Fundamentals Arrive Ready learning modules.
Working Together for First-Year Success
This webinar is designed to help you build the skills needed to succeed in peer-based learning. Studying in university will involve group work — independent learning is no longer the only path to success. This is your chance to reflect on and ask questions related to the Effective Collaboration and Group Work Arrive Ready learning module. This session will explore how to communicate effectively, navigate group dynamics and contribute meaningfully to collaborative projects.
