Get an inside view of what to expect in your upcoming social sciences classes. Arrive Ready to Study learning modules are developed with Arts & Science faculty members to include a mix of lectures and skill-building activities designed to support first-year learning. Activities include university-level lectures and academic prep material to prepare for your first-year social sciences courses, tools to develop your study skills and helpful tips from upper-year students. Modules will include practice quizzes and activities to deepen your learning.
Faculty Lead: Sarah Wakefield (Instructor, GGR107: Environment, Food and People) and Robert Gazzale (Instructor, ECO 101: Principles of Microeconomics)
Student Lead: Cedric (Third-year student, criminology, political science, English) and Aditi (third-year, economics, math, psychology)
Learning modules are available all year long in your Arrive Ready to Study Social Sciences hub on Quercus.
Learning modules include:
- Understanding University Expectations for Success
- Note-Taking in University Lectures
- Effective Reading Strategies
- Critical Writing
- Effective Collaboration and Group work
- Studying & Test Preparation for the Social Sciences
Each module will take approximately two to five hours to complete. You can access the modules independently whenever your schedule allows, without the worry of marks or deadlines.
Complete at least three learning modules to be eligible to receive an Arrive Ready Certificate of Completion!
Preparing for University Math Program (PUMP) Modules
In addition to the Arrive Ready to Study modules that will be available to you in Quercus, you can also complete Preparing for University Math Program (PUMP) learning modules in Quercus.
