Whether you are a new or an upper year student or even an alumnus, you need ACORN for your student accounts, academic, registration and transcript needs. ACORN is fairly intuitive and easy to use, but here are some tips to help you get what you need faster.
LOGGING IN
No need to keep track of usernames and passwords! Just use your UTORid and password to log into ACORN. Simple!
THE DASHBOARD
This is the “home page” in ACORN. The dashboard displays key information like upcoming deadlines, financial information and academics.
ACADEMICS
This is where you will find information related to your academic status, registration, grades and graduation.
FINANCES
The finances section is where you would go to defer your fees, pay via credit card and see your balancing owing.
COURSE ENROLMENT
You can register for courses, create a wishlist by adding them to your enrolment cart or change them by going to Enrol & Manage: Courses.
When it is course registration time, there are thousands of students on ACORN at the same time. During these “peak” times, ACORN switches to a simplified version for 24 hours and you may not be able to access some functions.
As you try to enrol in your courses, you may notice that ACORN is slow. At these times, do not refresh your browser or try enrolling in two separate windows. This will just confuse ACORN and may result in you losing those courses. The best thing to do in peak times is to click on the Enrol button and wait.
OPPORTUNITIES OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
In the Life section, you have access to opportunities outside the classroom. From Life: Involvement, you can access your Co-Curricular Record, clubs and mentorship opportunities.
HOW-TO GUIDE
There is a helpful ACORN How-To Guide online to show you how to get things done in ACORN. It covers a variety of topics including enrolling in courses, enrolling in programs, updating your address and requesting to graduate.
