Learning disabilities can be any impairment in perceiving, thinking, remembering and learning. If you find yourself unable to remember what you are learning or you are having difficulty understanding something, you may have a learning disability.
If this sounds like you, here’s what you can do:
-
See a doctor for a medical assessment
The doctor may ask you to fill out a questionnaire or ask you a series of questions to determine whether you have a learning disability. You can see your family doctor or a doctor on campus.
-
Register with Accessibility Services
If you have not seen a doctor to be assessed, you can register yourself with Accessibility Services. They will conduct a short interview, advise you on your next steps and refer you to a specialist, if needed.
Remember, learning disabilities can affect your studies. If you are diagnosed with a learning disability, make sure to request academic accommodations through Accessibility Services. They will help you tailor your learning to your disability.
