To help incoming first-year students transition to university, the Faculty of Arts & Science offers Arrive Ready — a free, online academic preparation and peer mentorship program designed to help students develop the strategies and skills needed to succeed at the university level.
Throughout the summer, students receive support from upper-year A&S students, can attend webinars and have access to online learning modules.
It’s also a great opportunity to start building their U of T community by connecting with fellow incoming students and start engaging with Arts & Science faculty.
Incoming Students:
If you are about to start your first year at the Faculty of Arts & Science, you will be automatically enrolled in Arrive Ready — no registration is required.
In May, look for an email from your peer mentor to invite you to participate in the following Arrive Ready program benefits:
- One-on-one peer support and tips from an upper-year mentor
- Weekly webinars where you can connect with your peers and future professors
- Learning modules to help you transition to university-level learning
Arrive Ready Certificate of Completion
All incoming first-year A&S students are eligible to receive an Arrive Ready Certificate of Completion by completing each stage of the Arrive Ready program.
To receive your certificate, complete the following steps:

Step 1: Connect with your Arrive Ready mentor
There are three different ways to connect with your mentor:
- Email your Arrive Ready mentor
- Respond to your mentor who will contact you by email or send them an email at the contact information included in your Arrive Ready page on Quercus.
- Attend a one-on-one virtual or in-person appointment with your mentor.
- Visit your Arrive Ready page on Quercus to book a meeting.
- Register for and attend at least one Arrive Ready First-Year Planning Webinar.
Step 2: Enrol in your first-year courses on July 17
First-year course enrolment is a required milestone in your U of T journey. Log into ACORN on July 17 to enrol in your first-year courses. Visit the New Student Guide to learn about first-year course selection and join an Arrive Ready First-Year Planning Webinar to receive course selection tips from upper-year students and academic advisors.
Step 3: Complete your Arrive Ready self-assessment
After you enrol in your first-year courses, visit your Arrive Ready page on Quercus to complete your Arrive Ready Self-Assessment. This interactive tool will help you reflect on how you can best prepare for your first-year courses with the support of the Arrive Ready to Study Learning Modules and campus resources.
Step 4: Complete at least three Arrive Ready to Study learning modules
Starting July 21, you can access Arrive Ready to Study Learning Modules on your Arrive Ready page on Quercus. These learning modules are developed with Arts & Science faculty members and will include a mix of lectures, skill-building activities and practice quizzes designed to support first-year learning. Learning modules are completed by doing the knowledge check at the end of each module.
Step 5: Pick up your Arrive Ready Certificate of Completion!
All students who complete each step by Aug. 31 are eligible to receive an Arrive Ready Certificate of Completion. You can pick up your certificate this September at the Sidney Smith Commons.
The Arrive Ready Certificate of Completion is an optional component of the Arrive Ready program. It does not qualify for any credit toward your degree and will not appear on your transcript.
