What to do if I’m sick and I have an assignment due?

If you are able to complete the assignment, you should give it your best shot. But if you are too sick to complete the assignment:

Speak to your Prof or TA

Explain the situation to them and ask if they will give you extra time to complete your assignment. They may request that you use the absence declaration in ACORN to record your absence from class. If you have already made use of your absence declaration this term, you may need to provide supporting documentation for other absences if you are seeking academic consideration for missed course work (e.g., College Registrar’s Letter, Verification of Illness or Injury form).

Speak to your department

You can request special consideration to submit your assignment after the semester ends from your department.

Submit a petition

If your assignment deadline is close to the end of the semester, you may need to submit a petition for a term work extension in consultation with your College Registrar’s Office.

See a doctor

Seek medical advice before you move ahead with asking for accommodations.

Things to consider

Contact your Prof, TA, department or Registrar as soon as possible so that they can work with you on a plan.
